Fundraising Associate

Under the direction of the Fundraising Director, the Fundraising Associate is responsible for coordinating the production and execution of all tasks relating to individual donor direct marketing efforts. This includes, but not limited to, donor direct mail appeals, on-line donor appeals as well as donor cultivation activities. This position will also participate in the reporting and analysis of direct marketing campaigns.


The ideal candidate must have at least three years of direct marketing experience in fundraising. The following skills and experience are required: Excellent verbal, presentation and written skills; superior administrative and organization skills; experience managing suppliers/outside vendors within very tight timelines: reporting and strong analytic skills and knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) and donor databases, preferably Raisers Edge.


The candidate will be working with a smart, dedicated and motivated team of individuals in serving a common goal to help end the cruelty and suffering of animals, worldwide.


This is a full time position we are looking to fill immediately. It is located in Boston, MA.

Animal Agriculture Specialist

The World Society for the Protection of Animals exists to tackle animal cruelty across the globe and envisions a world where animal welfare matters and animal cruelty has ended. WSPA works directly with animals, as well as the people and organizations that can ensure animals are treated with respect and compassion. Through its Humane and Sustainable Agriculture campaign, WSPA promotes the development of humane and sustainable farming methods that respect animal welfare and promote environmental protection.


Job Profile:

The Animal Agriculture Specialist’s role is to coordinate research projects and production of reports related to the U.S. food industry focusing on animal agriculture – this includes but is not limited to supply chain management issues in the U.S. egg industry and the economic viability of humane production systems (e.g. cage free egg systems). This role will report directly to the U.S. Campaigns Manager - HSA, and will provide advice and guidance to key stakeholders and will build relationships with external experts drawing them in to assist WSPA when necessary.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Animal Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business Management or a related major

  • Minimum 3-5 years working on research projects (preferably related to agriculture or food sourcing)

  • Minimum 3-5 years working in the food industry on the business end (retail/food service preferred)

  • Familiarity with supply chain management issues within the U.S. egg industry; experience working with businesses to overcome supply chain issues a plus

  • Wide range of contacts within the food industry (retail/food service preferred)

  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships

  • Excellent communication skills – written, oral and presentation

  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills; the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultural and professional backgrounds

  • Competent at computing and web based skills relevant to the job

  • Ability to think analytically

  • Excellent, proven research skill.

Corporate Partnership Specialist

The Corporate Partnerships Specialist’s role is to positively engage with North American food businesses (restaurants, grocery chains, food suppliers) on the issue of switching all or a portion of their egg purchases to cage free. This role will be responsible for conducting consumer research, building compelling business cases for procuring cage free eggs, working with businesses to market their switch to cage free eggs and developing and coordinating a regional incentive/public recognition platform for businesses that commit to purchasing cage free eggs..


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Food and Beverage Management, Business, Economics or a related major

  • Minimum of 3-5 years working in corporate social responsibility (preferably within the food industry) or in retail/food service marketing (preferably within the food industry)

  • Wide range of contacts within the North American food industry

  • Familiarity with the North American egg industry (preferred)

  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships

  • Excellent communication skills – written, oral and presentation

  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills; the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultural and professional backgrounds; a self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Competency in computing and web based skills relevant to the job.

Interim U.S. Digital Manager

 This is a full-time, temporary position in the U.S. office (located in downtown Boston, Mass.) for the period of March 1 – June 30, 2012 (a 4-month contract).


Job duties include:

• Manage WSPA USA's main website and all microsites using CMS systems, ensure content on all sites is accurate and properly branded. Design and post new campaigns pages, donation landing pages and/or microsites, as needed.
• Design (or oversee the creation of) new online visuals and multimedia such as videos, website graphics, and banners.
• Coordinate and execute all online actions; monitor and report on supporter engagement and facilitate all new supporter data with database team.
• Design and manage all WSPA USA e-communications: Create the layouts and obtain text from appropriate departments, execute delivery of all e-comms, including monthly e-newsletters, action alerts, e-appeals and news alerts using Exact Target software.

Experience needed:

• Experience with some website design, digital technology and online marketing is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HTML, experience using email software, and familiarity of editing and converting images in Adobe Photoshop.
• Must be proactive, well-organized and able to multi-task.
• Attention to detail and ability to self-manager/prioritize.
• Experience in CMS software such as Tridion, Engaging Networks, Capitol Advantage and/or Exact Target is a plus. Training will be provided in all.
• Experience writing for the web, social networks and other digital media is preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree required
